Centre for Energy Sciences (CES) The Centre for Energy Sciences (CES) was first established in 2000 in the Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaya. In 2008, the Centre was recognized as one of UM’s Centres of Research. The core research areas are Renewable Energy (i.e. Biofuel and Biomass, Solar and Wind), Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation in Industrial, Commercial and Residential Settings, Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC&R) and Energy Policy. Today, we comprise research team members who have substantial experience in their respective fields. And the Centre is strongly committed to expanding the whole infrastructure to fulfil the research objectives of the University as well as national demands related to issues concerning energy sciences, particularly on energy security and sustainable development by focusing on research and teaching, technical training and consultancy, which leads to elevating UM ranking. |

Center for Transportation Research (CTR) The Centre for Transportation Research (CTR) is a multidisciplinary research unit comprising academics and researchers from across Universiti Malaya who share a common interest in transportation. Currently based within the Faculty of Engineering, CTR is part of the Centre of Research (CoR) at the Faculty of Engineering. The group originated from the collaborative efforts of the Transportation Research Group (TRG) within the Department of Civil Engineering and other related departments at Universiti Malaya. Since its establishment, following approval by the UM Senate on 24 January 2008, CTR has been actively engaged in research, supervising postgraduate students, and providing professional consultancy services to both public and private sectors. CTR’s aim is to leverage its collective expertise and experiences to foster collaboration and mutual benefit, advancing knowledge and solutions in the field of transportation in Malaysia and beyond. VISION AND MISSION To be an excellent research centre in transportation related areas. To advance understanding in transport research activities, operations as well as upgrading skills, knowledge and best-practices among academicians, students and practitioners. OBJECTIVES CTR is committed to encourage and promote collaborative work between practitioners and academics in various facets of transportation research relevant to the needs of Malaysia and beyond. The broad objectives are: - To act as a Centre for conducting research projects and supervision of post-graduate research in the Universiti of Malaya.

Centre of Applied Biomaterials (CAB) Established in 2008 under the Faculty of Engineering at Universiti Malaya, the Centre for Applied Biomechanics (CAB) has become a cornerstone in the study and advancement of biomechanics. CAB's multidisciplinary research efforts encompass motion analysis, sports biomechanics, orthotic and prosthetic (P&O) products, rehabilitation engineering, and musculoskeletal modeling.
CAB’s Motion Analysis section, pioneered from the 1998 Motion Lab, stands out as a trailblazer in Malaysia and has collaborated extensively with sports institutes and medical studies. This integration of engineering principles with clinical applications has led to groundbreaking advancements in both healthcare and sports biomechanics. CAB’s contributions significantly improve patient outcomes and provide valuable insights into injury prevention and mobility enhancement. By fostering a deep understanding of human movement and developing cutting-edge P&O solutions, CAB continues to make significant strides in the fields of healthcare and sports science. |

Centre for Printable Electronics (CPE) Mision
The mission of CPE is to develop research and innovation of wearable healthcare solutions for patient monitoring based on mPERANTI to diagnose and care for cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and cancer. CPE research plans to produce a wearable healthcare device that has a good quality of the assessment result, suitability, comfortability and cost reduction for diagnosing operation.
Objectives - To focus on energy-autonomous technology research to enable the creation of healthcare monitoring applications for the Malaysian market.
- Design electrodes developed from organic or inorganic novel materials for bio-sensing applications.
- Develop energy harvesting interface solutions that minimise losses and power consumption to achieve a lifetime-powered biosensor.
- Develop a flexible printable device of the proposed biosensor and analyse its efficiency and reliability.
